Art in the Open: Fifty Years of Public Art in New York

Art in the Open exhibits work that transformed public spaces and challenged the role and expectation of art presented outside of a museum or gallery’s traditional confines. The exhibition includes photographs, sculptures, video footage, models, and sketches from artists like Sol Lewitt, Christo and Jeanne-Claude, and Kara Walker. Work included design of the exhibition identity and an immersive visual timeline of notable works and milestones. Using the native and overwhelming language of wild postings, the visitor is transported through 50 years of public art in New York.
