“I am pleased to present to you an alumni publication—reimagined. The magazine will explore how art and design informs our experience of the world by sharing stories from the RISD community that focus on themes that matter to you.”

RISD Alumni Magazine
A fresh new look for an alumni magazine’s reboot
Collaborators: Lane Press
Having just rolled out their new brand identity, the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) was looking to revive its Alumni + Friends Magazine with a fresh new look after a three-year hiatus. Our redesign of the magazine plays with the juxtaposition of two spaces RISD students often occupy: “the studio” and “the gallery.” Strong hanglines and ample white space inspired by “the gallery” stands in contrast with more playful and colorful pin-up-style moments inspired by “the studio.” Alumni names and voices are highlighted in the new RISD blue. The front-of-book showcases news and happenings, the feature well showcases in-depth interviews and photo essays, and the back-of-book’s Noteworthy section highlights soundbites from alumni while inviting ongoing conversations and feedback.

“Thank you to Once–Future Office for translating our vision into such an innovative, stunning design. We had a big idea for reimagining Class Notes (Noteworthy), and together we created something that feels fun, fresh, and unmistakably RISD.”
