Field Innovation Lab
Cultivating the conditions for innovation
Brand
FIELD Innovation Lab, an organization that helps community leaders jumpstart equity-driven projects, never takes a one-size-fits-all approach to their work. Once–Future created a name and identity for FIELD that embodies this flexibility. FIELD’s identity is, at heart, humanitarian—but it’s also ready to embrace a rebellious edge when needed to get the job done.
FIELD believes that journeys are non-linear, and that cultivating the conditions for systemic change is a meaningful, collaborative process that often takes place in the in-between moments. We played with the concept of focusing on the space between in FIELD’s flexible logo design, which features a variable set of process-driven gestures, or journey lines. These journey lines also exist outside of the logo as discreet elements that expand FIELD’s storytelling. The identity’s color palette was constructed in three forms—grounded, vibrant, and tint—to convey different attitudes. When naming the practice, we thought about what kind of language holds multiple meanings. “FIELD Innovation Lab” captures the feeling of coming together to imagine, incubate, and build more equitable futures.
